Greetings from the 2015/2016 Boosters Committee

We are thrilled to welcome our new students and parents to Stonewall Jackson Middle School and give a hearty hello to our returning parents and students! We have a lot of information to share, so please be sure to read through to the bottom!

What is the SJMS Boosters Club?

For our new parents, the Boosters Club is not an athletic boosters club like you may think. We serve as a community of parents, teachers, and students working together to actively support, promote, and raise funds for the Arts, Academics, Clubs, Physical Education, and Sports at SJMS. Our mission is to promote the ideals of good citizenship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority through programs and organized activities that benefit the entire school body, not just one particular grade level or organized activity.

Our fundraising efforts include, but are not limited to, Boosters Membership Fees, Box Tops for Education, SJMS Spiritwear sales, and our annual Springtime Booster Bonanza. 100% of all funds raised by the SJMS Boosters Club go directly back to SJMS to support all of these programs!

The SJMS Boosters Club provided support to the following in previous years:

·         Provide SJMS Stonewear to our elementary feeder schools - Mechanicsville, Battlefield, Cold Harbor and Laurel Meadows - for select rising 6th grade students during their elementary school graduation events

·         Purchased new girls softball, girls soccer, and boys tennis uniforms

·         Funded the refurbishment of the gym/wrestling/gymnastics mats

·         Purchased a storage shed for the sports programs to store gear behind the school

·         Provide a First Friday Breakfast for the faculty and staff each month to show our appreciation

·         Provided funding  to support the Homework Club with incentives and gift cards

·         Approved funding for the Excel Program (for students struggling with regular education but not part of the special education curriculum). This program focuses on building skills, being prepared for class, helps in math, history, language arts. It also helps on building the family atmosphere, study skills, it is a very intense program. These students are selected by teachers and is only for 7th and 8th graders. The program has been extremely successful over the past several years!

·         Approved funding to purchase new basketball uniforms for both the boys and girls teams.

·         Scholastic Magazines were approved to assist students with the corresponding SOL testing. These magazines can be used by multiple classes over the course of several years.

·         New set of 7th grade Language Arts books were purchased thanks to funds from the SJMS Boosters Club and common core bell ringers addressing Language Arts curriculum for the 6th grade were approved.

·         STRIVE Program funding is approved each year – a school-wide behavior incentive program – to purchase a variety of gifts for the Strive Store

·         SJMS Boosters Club provided funding towards the purchase of our new digital sign in front of the school

SJMS Stonewear

The SJMS Stonewear is one of two major fundraisers that the SJMS Boosters Club hosts each year. Our other fundraiser is our Annual Springtime Booster Bonanza. Each year we sell Stonewear during orientation and open house, back to school nights, and other school functions as available.

You can also find the SJMS Stonewear store online at The selection of Stonewear varies each year with new designs and products available to purchase to show your school spirit throughout the year. We will be announcing the opening of our store for the 2015/2016 year on our Facebook page soon so stay tuned!
