Welcome to the Hanover County Public Schools Safety and Emergency Planning site!  From this site you can read about and view the school system’s “all-hazards” and four-phase approach to emergency planning.  In the Fall of 2007 the school system adopted the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command  System (ICS) – the same systems utilized by our local, state and federal governments for managing emergencies.  Click here for more information on NIMS and ICS.

The tabs above will take you to more detailed information where you can read about history of the school system's safety and emergency planning program, including the 7 Point Safety Offense, the wonderful partnerships we have in place with law enforcement, Fire/EMS, the health department, and other county agencies, as well as current news related to safety.  The materials tab will take you to documents and videos created to illustrate safety topics like bullying prevention, Internet safety, Pandemic planning, workplace safety and emergency drills.

Please check back often and contact us if you need additional information -- or to share safety concerns.

Please contact Stan Jones, Director of School Safety & Disciplinary Hearing/Review Officer
or Shellie MacKenzie, REMS Grant and Student and Support Services
Coordinator with safety related questions.
