There are several different ways students can meet the History and Social Science requirements for their desired diploma (modified, standard, advanced, and International Baccalaureate [IB]). Parents and students should consult the Hanover County Public Schools Program of Studies and work with a guidance counselor to determine a plan of action and note what specific testing requirements must be met.
The Virginia Standards of Learning are provided for our core classes:

Students looking for more advanced coursework in history can consider the IB and Advanced Placement (AP) courses available in all four HCPS high schools.
