are invited to attend this annual event that will highlight all
curriculum areas, including the specialty center at Hanover High School
and the courses to be offered at the new Trades School when it opens

Hanover County School Board Goals for the 2008 Redistricting Process
During this school year, the Hanover County School
Board will approve attendance zones to populate the new
school and provide capacity relief for schools in the
eastern part of the county.
The Redistricting Committee has been working since
November 8 to develop a draft plan to recommend to the School Board in
February. The schedule includes several meetings for citizens to provide
input to the committee during the process. The committee's draft
plan will be posted on the Web site prior to the community meetings.
Meetings Scheduled for Public Input:
Tuesday, January 29,
2008, 6:30-8:30 p.m. - Location: Pole Green Elementary School
Thursday, January 31, 2008, 6:30-8:30 p.m. - Location: Kersey
Creek Elementary School
Following the community
meetings, the committee will meet to consider feedback received prior to
finalizing a recommendation to be presented to the School Board on
February 19. The School Board will hold a public hearing on the
proposed plan on February 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the School Board Office in
Ashland and is expected to vote on the final plan
on March 11.

Board voted to name the districtís twenty-fifth school the Hanover

of Hanover County who are 62 years old or older are
apply for a Gold Card
(senior citizen pass). Retired employees who are age 55
or older are also
eligible. Gold Cards provide free
admission to many public school activities on Hanover
campuses including sports events and cultural
arts programs. For information and an application, you
may contact any of our high schools.
