Hanover County Public Schools Section 504 Procedural Safeguards
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) protects the rights of students with disabilities: qualified students who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. "Major life activities" means functions such as caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, and working. This is not an inclusive list of major activities, however.
Hanover County Public Schools has a system of procedural safeguards in place with respect to actions regarding the identification, evaluation, or educational placement of students with disabilities. As parent or guardian –
